Observação: Butia is the common name.Palm solitary with 50-80 cm x 28 cm trunk measured with the prsistent leaf bases. Leaves 48 in crown, spirally arranged and spreading. Leaf sheath plus petiole is 115-122 cm with a a true leaf petiole only 15,5 - 18 cm long, 1,9-2 cm wide and 0,7-0,8 cm thick and a toothed leaf sheath, adaxially, slightly convex to flat abaxially rounded. Leaf rachis 160 - 195 cm long. 53 - 56 pairs of leaflets wich are distributed regularly along the rachis in one plane. Basal leaflets 34 -74 cm long x 0,2 - 0,4 cm wide, middle leaflets 69 - 75 cm long x 1,3 - 1,7 cm wide, and apical leaflets 19 - 32 cm long x 0,2 - 0,3 cm wide. Androgynous inflorescence.
